Ken is a leader in the mining industry with a 20-year background in capital projects, management consulting, innovation and technology. He is a 'big thinker' and is able to utilize his broad experience to provide significant competitive advantage. His strong industry network allows him to collaborate with owners teams, vendors and consultants to deliver results which matter. His clear vision and communication style allow him to motivate a team to deliver through a collaborative, outcomes based approach.
Ken’s passion is doing things better in all contexts by continually learning and trying to conceptualize new ways of working using these new skills / technologies. His mechanical engineering background allows him to adopt a systems based approach to tackle most problems and to create an integrated world where the system is better than the sum of the parts.
In the capital project space, he has climbed through the ranks from draftsperson to VP of project delivery and has worked for Kemix, DRA, Ausenco and SNC Lavalin. This gives him a firm grasp of the details required to structure and deliver projects successfully.
In the innovation space, he has worked with a number of clients on both IT and engineering innovations which have the potential to substantially disrupt the mining industry. Examples include ore sorting, EcoTails, stirred milling, in-situ leaching.
In the technology space, he has previously worked for Accenture, a global leader in technology consulting, providing clients guidance on applicable technologies for mining and projects as well as managing systems integration projects.
marcello locatelli
Marcello graduated as a Mechanical Engineer and has spent his entire career in the mineral processing engineering design and execution space. He has over 15 years experience and has successfully managed and engineered various different commodity studies and projects. He was previously the VP Special Projects at Excellon Resources.
His experience extends from conceptual design through to commissioning and operations hand over. He works well within a project team environment and encourages healthy communication and integration between project team members and stakeholders.
Main noteworthy achievements have been in challenging environments such as fast-track projects (Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK) and Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM)).
Marcello is passionate about continuously improving project processes and enjoys innovative techniques to manage project quality, cost and time to ensure full transparency, integration and confidence in project delivery.
His skills in 4D modeling, drone capture and VR technology have assisted in ensuring high quality, innovative project delivery and he is currently focused on data capture and reporting using SQL for mining and processing plants.
